This week I decided to do some research on one of the hottest markets (I have a list of about 50), and since the weather is so nice, and I live close to a golf course, I decided to go for one of the golf niches: Golf Club Sets.

Has anyone tried the new “Domain Samurai”? Keyword research and domain research from those keywords all in one piece of software.
How do you decide whether to go into a domain Adriana? How do you assess competition?
🙂
I haven't yet (need to find the time), but I have market samurai and use it.
It depends on many things, Alex. Some of my criteria is:
– do I know anything about the niche (or am I interested in learning about the niche)?
– how much competition there is (even though competition does not stop me from getting into a niche if I want to)
– how many exact searches the key phrase of the domain gets monthly: for domains with less than 1000 exact searches a month, even if you get in the top 3, there is still not enough traffic. But, if your phrase is very specific, it may still be worth it. Or, if you can combine with other key phrases and add up all the potential traffic….
And of course, does that domain/niche fit into your overall business plan? If it takes you off course, don't do it.
In any case, Lynn has a great post about assessing competition. Read that for more info.
